GB's Kitchen is for everyone that has to eat. Who could that possibly leave out? It's true that meal preparation of some kind is a necessity, but it doesn't need to be a chore. Not at all! It can be lots of fun and deeply satisfying.
Interestingly, my zest for cooking spills over into every area of my life. I even use the names of food to describe colors. Caramel, honey, pumpkin, paprika, toffee. Can anyone relate?
I've literally been cooking since I could see over the stove! Bless my mom's heart for putting up with it and not squelching my enthusiasm! I distinctly remember making popovers for my brothers when I was no more than 10 and I was fascinated with how it all worked! Popovers? Now that might have been a bit overly ambitious for a fifth grader!
Even as a nineteen-year-old bride I loved cooking, baking, and puttering in the kitchen. I enjoyed putting wonderful meals on the table. And, I'm happy to say my kids and their kids love it too! We all look forward to gathering around the table in GB's Kitchen when it's groaning with "farm food." Nothing brings me more joy than feeding people.
I've learned a lot along the way and I spent four very educational years in foodservice. I worked for the company that served our local university and I learned lots of tricks and techniques that I still find very useful!
Over the years I've been inspired and "fed" by cooks like Julia Child and Peg Bracken, author of the iconic I Hate to Cook cookbook. Those women had fun with it and I love the wit and humor they brought to the table. (Every pun intended!)
Welcome to GB's Kitchen! Don't look for fancy, gluten-free, vegan, keto, paleo, or low-fat stuff here and I make no apologies. It's family food, not fancy food and if you just want to feed your crew happily, you've come to the right place. I'm looking forward to becoming friends.
