Mr Grinch is back in the lime green limelight again this year. Why not toast the old rascal with this fun Grinch cocktail for your adult friends this holiday season?
Sometimes, I think I must live under a rock and don't know what's happening around me because I am so focused on my little home, sweet home, and family. However, my curiosity got the better of me when I saw Grinch merchandise that stretched for miles in Hobby Lobby and Grinch apparel every time I turned around.
Hmmm. It's not an anniversary of the book. It was written way back in 1957! An animated TV special narrated by Boris Karloff debuted in 1966. I still get teary-eyed watching that one!
In 2018, we saw a new animated film version, and in 2000, Jim Carry starred as the nasty old Grinch in a live-action movie. Nope, no anniversaries of those depictions. Now there are rumors flying of a sequel to the movie and plans to bring back Jim Carry as the Grinch!
I finally searched, "Why is the Grinch such a big deal in 2023?" and found my answer. The beloved book has a sequel, so we are now into the third generation of Grinch groupies! The new book is called How The Grinch Lost Christmas.
And now, there are Grinch cookies, Grinch Cake, Grinch punch, Grinch pancakes, and even complete Grinch dinner menus and Grinch Hershey kisses. It comes as no surprise that there is now a happy lime green Grinch cocktail!
Everyone loves the Grinch, and this novel cocktail is quick and easy to make with Midori liqueur, vodka, and 7UP. Midori is a fruity melon liqueur. It pairs well with vodka and helps take the bite out of it. The 7UP (in the suitably red and green can) finishes the drink on a sweet note.
Don't forget to serve it over ice as cold as the Grinch and garnish it with a red cherry about the size of his nasty heart. Total Grinchness in a drink! It should spark conversation at any party because everyone knows the Grinch and has memories of the famous story!
You will need a jigger to measure the vodka and the Midori, a ten to twelve-ounce cocktail glass for each drink, and a cocktail spoon to stir it gently so you don't release all the fizz from the 7UP. You don't want to end up with a flat drink; nobody likes that!
It's very important to remember that alcohol should always be consumed responsibly. If you choose to drink alcohol, be sure to drink in moderation and never drink and drive.
It's critically important for a good host to have food available when alcoholic drinks are served. Food helps slow the rate at which alcohol is absorbed into the body.
Typically, the best options will be foods containing protein, fat, and carbohydrates. This could include things like meatballs or cheese and crackers.
If you want an adorable, festive, and fun drink for your adult friends and family this holiday season, give this Grinch Cocktail a try!
If you want some ideas for a festive, non-alcoholic drink to serve at a party, there are many fun ideas to choose from. Here are just two! Grinch Punch and Grinch Mocktail.
