I'm rarely, if ever, on TikTok, but this viral TikTok cinnamon roll hack has been around for over two years now. It keeps right on getting attention, and now, I get it. If you're late to the party, like I was, don't miss out on this one!
I finally got around to trying it today so I'd have a fun new treat for my teenage grandson (the one with the hollow leg I wrote about earlier). Well, there's a reason these are still going strong. Like Toll House chocolate chip cookies, I think this one will be around for a long, long time because it's a great recipe!
It is fast and easy to make these incredible cinnamon rolls! You only need a few basic ingredients; it takes about five minutes to get them in the pan. This now-famous recipe was designed to make canned cinnamon rolls taste like the famous Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls by copying some of their methods.
You will save a ton of money making these TikTok Cinnamon Rolls instead of buying from Cinnabon. I am quite a thrifty gal, and I got a serious case of sticker shock when I priced a single Cinnabon roll. 😵Thankfully, they do have free smells when you go by one of their stores, and I enjoy that immensely!
I used a disposable pan because I was taking these to our grandson. If you make one tube of five Pillsbury Grands refrigerated cinnamon rolls, you'll need a nine-inch square pan, and if you use two tubes, a 13" by 9" pan. Of course, you'll need to double the rest of the ingredients. You can use the kind with regular icing, too; it's up to you!
Begin by spraying the pan. Carefully remove the rolls and place them in the pan. Set aside the icing tub that comes with the rolls for now. I find separating the rolls easier when they're right out of the refrigerator. This time, I made a batch of five. I arranged the rolls like a five on a dice.
Pour one-half cup of whipping cream over the rolls. Don't worry; the rolls will not be soggy! Next, combine one-fourth cup of very soft butter, one-fourth cup of brown sugar, and a teaspoon of vanilla. Drizzle that mixture over the rolls as evenly as you can.
Now, here's the step that makes the magic happen: Cover the pan with foil and crimp it tightly to the edges. This makes the rolls steam as they bake, so they puff up soft and sweet and don't get a crusty top. Every bite of these amazing TikTok cinnamon rolls tastes like the soft middle of a regular cinnamon roll.
Bake the rolls for 30 minutes in a 350-degree oven. When they're baked, they will be fluffy and ready to cool a bit before being topped with the yummy icing.
Empty that little tub of icing that comes with the rolls into a bowl and add a half cup of powdered sugar, two tablespoons of soft butter, and one-half teaspoon of vanilla. Stir well, and if it's a little thick, add a small amount of milk to thin it until you can drizzle it on top of the still-warm rolls.
Spread that icing on top evenly and set it up a little if you can wait. My icing might look a little darker than yours because I used my favorite Molina Mexican vanilla. If you want pure white icing, use clear vanilla.
And that's it, folks! It's no surprise that this cinnamon roll recipe went viral on TikTok and is still just as popular today! I'm sure going to miss having a grandson around to bake for, but for the next three years, I'm going to enjoy it every time when he tells me, "These are really good, GB!"😍
Another little cinnamon roll hack he enjoyed was these easy cinnamon twists! Of course, I'll never stop making my old-fashioned, from-scratch Easy Cinnamon Rolls while I explore other ways to make fast and easy treats for him!
